Blue Range ZONE

Blue Range ZONE

Thanks to Corey at Blue Planet Nutrients posting in Xlr8's journal a while back, Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011 I can now mix up what comes to me at 20-30 bucks a quart for pennies per gallon. I will now refer to this recipe, for simplicity's sake as ***Blue Range ZONE, or ***BRZONE. Our debt to your expertise, caring, and support for this community can never be repaid.

The following product comes to me at about 20-30 USDollars per quart. Please note the Guaranteed Analysis so as to understand what Corey has done below.

Ok so here we go:

First of all, VERY IMPORTANT!!! : TOO MUCH copper will KILL your plants. no Joke. So please, please, please, if you use this recipe you must have a VERY accurate scale. something like a jewelers scale that measures grams to at least one decimal place.

This recipe is for 1 gallon of homemade RootZone DM

first of all, when buying copper sulfate, there a couple different formulations for that particular chemical. so, what I have done is this: The following link is for 500 grams of copper sulfate pentahydrate
CHEM CU SULFATE PENTA ACS 500G - Laboratory Chemicals - Laboratory Supplies - 8EJ50 : Grainger Industrial Supply

The molecular weight of copper sulfate pentahydrate is 249.68
The molecular weight of copper is 63.546
divide 63.546 by 249.68 and you will find that copper sulfate pentahydrate is 25.6% copper. If you use another form of copper sulfate, make sure that you know the molecular weight of the compound which you can find using a periodic table. the reason I say this is that there is also Copper(II) sulfate (cupric sulfate) which has a higher percentage of copper because it is not hydrated.
Anyway, for 1 gallon, you will need exactly 15.14 grams of copper sulfate pentahydrate which is 1.024 grams of elemental copper per liter of water and thus 3.88 grams of elemental copper per gallon
1.024 grams elemental copper per 1000 ml RO water equals .1% soluble copper.

The amount of potassium nitrate in that stuff is negligible. I don't even know why it is in there. They use roughly 13 grams of potassium nitrate per gallon which does not contribute to the potassium or nitrogen content of your nutrient solution much at all.
So, just throw in 13-14 grams per gallon of potassium nitrate (saltpeter) and you will have roughly .06% nitrogen and .15% potassium
you can get potassium nitrate just about anywhere. you can get it on ebay for about $5 a pound all day long and most of the stuff listed on ebay is refined and high quality....much more pure than what is needed for this recipe.

anyway, to re-cap this recipe for 1 gallon of homemade rootzone DM:
use 15.14 grams of copper sulfate pentahydrate
13 grams of potassium nitrate
and 1 gallon (3785) ml pure RO water

There you have it. 1 gallon of RootZone DM for pennies!

Thank you very much... as I bow deeply for the audience lol :)

***Naming this homemade rootzone product was not Corey's idea, but my own. All responsibility for the similarity in name is my own, and Blue Planet Nutrients should not be held responsible if anyone gets pissy about it...

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
To use, simply follow these easy guidelines!

LIGHT STRENGTH:
Use from the day you plant, to the day you harvest! Recommended for continual use throughout the grow and flower when water temperature is below 21C / 70F. Add Blue Range ZONE at the rate of 5 ml / 1 teaspoon per 20 litres / 5 gallons of final tank level or volume, with all other additives and before adding your primary nutrient. Check and adjust final nutrient strength using a TDS (PPM or EC) meter. Adjust pH to approximately 5.5 for Rockwool, Perlite, Clay, Vermiculite, Aeroponics, DWC, NFT, Hydro or Coco users or 5.9 for dirt or soilless systems such as Promix or Sunshine mix. Feed according to your systems normal requirements.

MEDIUM STRENGTH:
Use when water temperature reaches or exceeds 23C / 74F. Your root zone can quickly get out of balance when your water temperature reaches or exceeds this mark. Using Blue Range ZONE at this strength, before problems occur, will optimize your root zone's condition until your water temperature falls back into the safe area below 21C / 70F. Add Blue Range ZONE at the rate of 9 ml / 2 teaspoons per 20 litres / 5 gallons of final tank level or volume, with all other additives and before adding your primary nutrient.

AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH:
Use this strength at first signs of a ‘less than optimal’ root zone. Using Blue Range ZONE at this strength is very effective at quickly re-establishing optimal root zone conditions. Once your plants have regained their vigor, return to using medium strength Blue Range ZONE for the remainder of your grow and / or flower cycles. Add Blue Range ZONE at the rate of 12 ml / 2 ½ teaspoons per 20 litres / 5 gallons of final tank level or volume, with all other additives and before adding your primary nutrient. See Growers Tips for more info. Feed according to your systems normal requirements.
Thanks to Corey at Blue Planet Nutrients for helping us with this VERY affordable, and easy-to-make alternative root zone conditioner to keep our sterile systems running at optimal levels.

Everything came from Shmam shmazon dot com, and cost less than going to buy Dutch Masters RootZone at the store. Please allow me to clarify. I did pay shipping, and I did pay full asking price for each ingredient received, and STILL did not pay as much as I would have for a quart of the name-brand stuff.
