The other day I started a bagseed, in some paper towel, which I proceeded to sow in a Jiffy Cup filled with some organic potting soil from Walmart, some perlite, and some rooting hormone, once it cracked and displayed a root shoot. A couple days later, it's a centimeter tall and showing roots coming out the bottom of the 7 or 8 cm tall cup. I'll be planting this (eventually) in a four gallon pot, filled with same stuff as little Jiffy Cup. My plan for this is to veg this for at least two months, top the hell out of it, bend the piss out of it, scrog it, and hopefully get a lot more medicine that I've ever gotten from a single plant, with this one plant. That is, if this turns out to be female. Early on, I will be taking a clone for sexing purposes, and maybe putting that clone in the swamp somewhere after sexing. It's not going to be easy for me to sex the clone, because I have only one growing area, that is used for vegging and flowering. I may simply sex it in a different closet under a single CFL, but I'll need another timer, because I know I cannot be relied upon to remember to manually cut short its days to twelve hours every day until I see pistils or balls. I'll be starting out in a week or so, with my regular old orchid nutes (described in all my journals, and in my blog), however, I plan to get GH nutes sometime this year, and hopefully sooner rather than later. Lighting will be under Mars Hydro 100x3w LED. Right now timer is set at about 16 hours on, 8 off, give or take a notch on the wheel (+/-15 minutes). It's longer than 12 hours, that's what's important. Before this seedling emerged from the soil, I disassembled the LED panel and cleaned the heatsink and fans, and I cleaned the glass lens. I then reassembled it, of course.
On a side note, here's a "painting" I made using GIMP this evening. First time I ever started with a blank canvas and created something using it. I call it "redbud."
