Absit iniuria verbis. That's latin and directly translated to English, it means let injury by words be absent. IOW, the phrase expresses the wish that no insult or wrong be conveyed by the speaker's words, i.e., "no offense".
Also, absit invidia. Translated, let ill will be absent. Although similar to the English expression "no offense", absit invidia is not a mere social gesture to avoid causing offense, but also a way to ward off the harm that some people superstitiously believe animosity can cause others. Also extended to absit invidia verbo, meaning "may ill will be absent from the word."
What I'm basically trying to get at, folks, is that I do not mean to offend anyone through my words, deeds, or actions.
If you read one of my posts and learn something, great! If it also makes you laugh, better still.
If you don't agree with what I have stated and choose to debate me with facts and examples of your own experiences, you are welcome to do so.
If you prove me wrong, I will not be offended, for I will have learned something. I also do not wish to spread bad information. So if you think I'm wrong, by all means call me on it. I don't mind being schooled as long as my teacher is correct.
I want people to think when they read my words - not become upset.
