I love this vape. I know that I shouldn’t give away the punch line at the start of a review but I couldn’t resist. To me, it is that good.
The ArGo is the latest offering from the fine folks at Arizer. They have been a leader in the burgeoning vaporizer industry from their start in 2006, when vaping technology was in its infancy. Arizer’s desktop Extreme Q was one of the prime players that showed us how it should be done. It was a huge hit for them and each of their successive models has followed this same trend.
The ArGo is a battery-operated USB rechargeable portable vaporizer. At 2 x 3 1/4 inches and less than an inch thick, it slips easily into a pocket or purse making it very unobtrusive. Finished smartly in anodised black and rubberised plastic and weighing in at just under 5 ounces, it has good hand feel. Like its bigger and less mobile Arizer siblings, it uses a detachable glass tube for inhalation, with a perforated barrier keeping your meds separate. In practise, I found that unless I really wailed on it with a powdery grind, this separation did the job nicely. Several screens are included, but Arizer do warn you that you will impair the taste if you use them. I didn’t.
The feature set of the ArGo is impressive for such a small device. Using the display, you can turn it on/off and adjust the volume of a ‘ready’ chime, (stealth), change the display intensity, (stealth again), and alter the turn on/off time delays. Arizer doesn’t follow the multiple click ‘on’ ritual that many vaporizers use, but prefers a variable delay push and hold routine that can be as little as 2 seconds. It has both Celsius and Fahrenheit display options and it even does the count up to your temperature preference for the impatient amongst us. Happily, it will work when charging, if you happen to forget to plug it in after your last session.
Another cool feature is a pop-up body that protects the glass tube when it is inserted but not in use. This allows you to have a loaded tube in the chamber ready to go when you are mobile. You can also store loaded tubes, (both supplied tubes come with silicone stoppers), in the included travel pouch. Aside from that, you get the battery, a charging cable, a wall wart for wall charging, as well as a product tool in the box. Packaging often tells you a lot about a manufacturer and the Arizer package is top notch.
Of course, the true test of a vaporizer is function, and the ArGo did not disappoint. It heated up from cold to 360 F in about a minute and it produced a nice medium volume of visible vapor with amazing flavor. Low and slow works the best, I found. After a session, the body of the vaporizer was quite warm to the touch, but nothing alarming, so safety is assured. Everybody has their own ideas of vaping temperature and the ArGo let me try many settings easily, even running it up mid-vape to get every last little bit. Battery life is very good. I used the ArGo for a session or two and then left for a business trip for two days. When I returned, it was ready to go with 46% battery life still remaining. If I really dig for a fault with the ArGo, the only thing I can come up with is a mild complaint from my partner who said she doesn’t like the ridge on the glass tube, as she personally prefers a more conventional mouthpiece. However, we both really liked the easy draw and the wonderful taste that the ArGo produced, which is what really matters.
As I said at the top, I love this vaporizer. At $269 it is a good buy, offering great vaping from a truly neat, little, user friendly and very portable unit. So if you have been hankering for a great portable vape or if you just want a good vaporizer period, you can buy the Arizer ArGo with confidence.
