There have been improvements made on this newest model of Crafty+, one of those being a USB-C charging port which gives a 25 minute faster charging time compared to the original unit. It also features a ceramic coated filling chamber for more even heating, and to maintain more consistent temperatures. It uses a patented combination of conduction and convection heating. The body is built from a super hard heat resistant food grade plastic. This thing is solid.

The filling bowl is accessed by turning the top of the unit 90° counter clockwise and lifting it off. You can also remove the airflow section (upper most part) for any cleaning or changing of O-rings, by pushing back the button with the Storz & Bickel logo on it.
I started with some recently cured ground up buds and filled the bowl. It heated up pretty quickly. It was a smooth draw and the flavor was wonderful. I’ve never achieved that much flavor and smoothness from a rolled smoke. It was a nice cloud of vapor on the exhale too. This is nice to pass around, because you don’t have to tell anyone what to do with it as far as pushing buttons. Once you have it set on the preferred temperature it stays there until you change it or it turns itself off. The comfort styled mouthpiece has a nice swivel feature, and you can swivel it onto the top for storing the Crafty+ when not in use.
There is an App available at the Google Play Store for Android users, which is a great tool that can also be used with the Storz & Bickel Volcano Hybrid. You can control everything with one touch in the app, and change settings such as adjusting and dialing in exact temperatures different from the presets to meet your specific needs. I use the app frequently to control my S&B vaporizers. iPhone users are not offered an App by Apple, but there is an option for an S&B web app using a Bluetooth enable web browser. I tested the Crafty+ thoroughly quite a few times over the course of a week using different strains and was very pleased with the results. I found the middle ground at two clicks (374° F. – 190° C.) to be my preferred temperature for most of the buds. Choosing different temperatures took no more than 30 seconds to achieve the setting. When I pushed it to the maximum temperature, it produced a very heavy hit with some really thick vapor. Heavy hitters will definitely love this portable vaporizer. It averaged out about 5-6 bowls before needing a recharge on most of what I tested it with. For those who prefer dosing, there is a dosing capsule included.
For as little as it weighs, this is built solid, strong, and beefy. It has a nice look and feel that makes it appealing to everyone I’ve shown it to. There are no frills or fancies, just a good solid look and construction. It fits in the hand comfortably and securely without slipping, and it doesn’t get too hot in your hand while using it. The Cooling Unit on the top is designed to efficiently cool down and refine the vapor for a pleasant taste experience. German engineering makes these products perform with durability, functionality, quality, and reliability. Time tested and standing up to frequent use is what makes this a worthy Storz & Bickel product. This is far superior to any other portable vaporizers I’ve tried.
The portability is great. You can throw this in a backpack, purse, pocket, or anywhere else and there’s nothing on it that will fall off or detach accidentally. The charging port stores a filling chamber tool that also covers the port so you can keep dust and dirt away from the inside. It doesn’t take long to charge in the vehicle when you’re on the move, thanks to the rapid USB-C charging.
Cleaning is very simple. Use the supplied chamber brush to clean out any loose materials, and then wipe down the unit with an alcohol pad. Soak the screens and other parts for a few minutes in ISO, making sure they are dry before reassembling. As with any vaporizer, you want to clean regularly to keep build up from happening that will affect the quality of the taste, among other things.
