A new medical marijuana dispensary will open in the Strip District Tuesday. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 got an exclusive look inside the facility on Penn Avenue.
The dispensary is the third to open in the Pittsburgh region since medical marijuana became legal in Pennsylvania.
Cresco Yeltrah owns two of the three. Co-founder Trent Hartley told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that, after initially having a difficult time keeping products in stock, business is now running more smoothly.
“We have patients driving two, two and a half hours to Butler,” Hartley said. “The stock is still an issue, but it’s getting much better.”
Security in the new facility will be tight, but developers also tried to create a relaxing atmosphere for patients.
Both the waiting room and the room where patients will receive their medication have controlled access only for patients with state-issued medical marijuana cards. The state also has access to dozens of security cameras within the building to monitor the business.
“To see a patient come in with a disability and then come back two weeks later and they feel much better, it’s very heartwarming,” Hartley said.
CY+ will be the 25th dispensary in Pennsylvania.
