Kalamazoo City Commissioners will consider approval of ordinances allowing medical marijuana operations in the city.

They will hold public hearings tonight and if no major disagreements surface, they will decide whether to accept them.

Kalamazoo’s ordinance is as restrictive as ordinances approved by Kalamazoo Township and Portage, and more restrictive than many other communities have adopted.

All of the businesses will be limited by the new regulations to very specific areas, isolated from churches, schools, parks and other medical marijuana shops, greatly limiting the number that can be wedged in.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at Kalamazoo City Hall.
