The Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee unanimously sent a bill to legalize cannabidiol to the full house this week.

This is also known as CBS oil and is derived from marijuana.

The bill would allow for CBD oil containing point 3 percent or less of THC to be sold in Idaho for medical treatment.

Several parents testified Friday how CBD oil helps reduce seizures in their children who have epilepsy.

Some lawmakers on the committee say they were moved to vote for the bill after hearing how a private pharmaceutical company is working on a commercial version of CBD oil that could cost as much as $60,000 a year.

In 2015, a version of the CBD oil bill made it to the governor’s desk where Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter vetoed it.
