The Cannabis NB store for the Rothesay area is under construction near the Superstore and NB Liquor outlet at the top of the Marr Road– ensuring that consumers can get their pot, munchies and drinks for Saturday night all in one place.
The government had announced the location of the store in late January. It will be one of 20 locations throughout the province when recreational marijuana use is legalized sometime this year.
The locations were chosen based on population demographics, liquor sales transactions, and traffic patterns. The locations were also chosen to ensure distribution and accessibility provincewide and to ensure they were at an appropriate distance from schools and daycares.
In an e-mail, NB Liquor Communications Officer Mark Barbour said the scheduled completion date for the store is September 1.
