Pasadena police arrested a 64-year-old man who was spotted lugging around a trash bag containing about 21 pounds of marijuana on Sunday.
The man claimed the marijuana was for everyone, according to Lt. Pete Hettema. He said the bag didn’t contain high grade marijuana but stems and remnants of the plant.
An anonymous tipster called police around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Hettema said the caller reported seeing a man carrying a large plastic bag of marijuana. He added that there was a hole in the bag and the caller could see marijuana falling out.
Officers found the man at Garfield Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard with the bag next to him.
Hettema said the man told police someone left the marijuana and that it was for everyone. He claimed people came by and helped themselves to the marijuana earlier, according to Hettema.
James Miles, who police described as a transient who frequents Pasadena, was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana. He was booked Sunday night at the Pasadena jail and released early Monday morning.
