A search warrant led law enforcement to more than 2,100 marijuana plants that were grown illegally at an Oroville home, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said.

Law enforcement officials served a search warrant Tuesday in the 2800 block of Cherokee Road. When they arrived, officers spotted a man running from the back of the home and into some nearby brush.

The man was found in a nearby tree line and identified as Yu Zheng, 39, of Pennsylvania, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was taken into custody without incident.

While searching the property, the Sheriff’s Office said officials found an “elaborate illegal commercial marijuana grow,” outdoor marijuana plants and marijuana plants growing in a greenhouse. More than 2,100 marijuana plants were eradicated from commercial growing sites.

Zheng was arrested on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, and felony maintaining a residence for drug sales, the Sheriff’s Office said.

No other details have been released.
