The Rhode Island Department of Health has made public a list of the 355 doctors who have signed applications for their patients to use marijuana for medicinal purposes.
State health officials provided the names of the doctors, and the number of marijuana-card applications they have each signed in response to a public records request from The Journal.
In a statement to The Journal, the Rhode Island Medical Society "strenuously" opposed the publication of the names of any doctors who had signed medical marijuana applications, saying it would "inevitably disrupt the affected medical practices" and "undermine the purpose and effectiveness of Rhode Island's medical marijuana law."
A majority of the doctors who consented to be interviewed by The Journal said they did so out of a belief that public discussion shed light on important aspects of the four-year-old medical marijuana law.

There is a Dr from Crossroads a homeless and low income shelter and resource office that deals exclusively with those who are without funds. The building is in Providence at 100 Broad Street (the old YMCA building) he has signed for a very controversial young man who was a drug dealer that looked to use the card as a criminal defense after he had been arrested several times for possession and selling marijuana and other drugs.
The story was in the Pro Jo (Prov Journal Newspaper) detailing his saga.
I would also contact RI PAC (RI Patients Advocacy Coalition) Joanne is her name they are putting together a Dr and office who as I understand it will charge $375 for an office visit where the Dr will write a bogus MMJ Recommendation.
The reason I say BOGUS is because the Card is only good when you have a "Bona Fide" Dr / Patient relationship where you have seen the Dr numerous times and he is your Dr administering services and care to you on a continuing basis. As for Dr's it can be a Dr from Massachusetts, Connecticut or RI the Patient MUST be a RI resident.

Thank you for the info Wingman. I have contacted RI PAC through their website, but still have received no reply. This was not a big issue for me until my daughter was born. Before that, I grew for my own personal use illegally. I did not care then because my growing would not affect anyone except myself. Now that my daughter is here, I can no longer grow my medicine for fear of LEO, and am forced to buy low grade because it is all I can afford. I am at the point where I can no longer sleep through the night and when I get up in the morning, I feel like im 80 (I am 24). I am really worried about speaking with a doctor, for fear of rejection. I was seeing my primary doctor and specialists frequently when the injury first occured (back spasms). They put me through the ringer of medical tests and could find nothing. After paying for months and months of physical therapy out of my own pocket, I had to lie and tell them I felt better. The truth is, I started self medicating with marijuana. There is much medical documentation showing that I am not making this up, but I can't help but feel that a doctor is going to think "Oh here's another kid just trying to smoke legally."

Is this just me? I can't be the only one in this situation.

SmokeyMacPots, it's all good and if indeed things are as you state why would a Dr. not help you when he has sworn an oath to do no harm?

RI PAC (RI Patients Advocacy Coalition) should not be the only place you inquire with! As my earlier post states Crossroads in the old YMCA building at 100 Broad St does have a Dr who treats those with no insurance or funds. There are various groups around RI that treat low income but nobody is going to sign for a card unless they know it will help your current health condition and you are a bonafide patient who is not only coming once but keeping regular appointments as the Law stipuilates. Any person with a Card who does not have a legit condition, and does not have a bona fide Patient / Dr relationship is NOT covered should you get arrested and the Card be tested in Court.

Well done, Nice Help.

Hey there MedicalNeed:thankyou: I see you are also spreading Cannabis Awareness and I have enjoyed reading your many articles. :thankyou::welldone:

Thank you so much for the help Wingman. I will keep you all informed about my status. Hopefully everything works out for the best! I have all my forms, and informational pamphlets from RIPAC. Now, I just need to get my medical records and set up an appointment!

Good Luck Smokey! There is also a Clinic in Coventry called the Pawtuxet Ambulatory Clinic in Coventry where the visit is $50.
The Dr there is a good man who KNOWs MMJ is a beneficial and useful tool that combats many ailments.
:goodluck: and keep us posted!

SmokeyMacPots - did you have any success? i'm in the same boat as you with having a child and all, im so scared of being rejected or looked at the wrong way if i ask my doc. i was so happy to find this thread, i have medical ins. but i have not called any of the above doc's yet.

im wondering if anyone has any advice on setting up an appt with any of the above dr's ? how does the process usually go? any help would be appreciated!

:thankyou: :peace:

First you must have a "Qualifying Condition" such as Pain, Wasting Syndrome, Seizures, Cancer, etc and explain how you met me or another Medical Patient who shared this with you, then benefits it has with use and if he would sign the Recommendation. (It is important you supply the application). I would start with your regular Dr. when this was published there were 2000 Patients and now there are more than 9000. Many RI Doctors know the benefits of MMJ so it is just a matter of being honest.

I am 100% disabled but....
that figures, Dr Zayas is my current neurologist I was referred to him thru my other neurologist Dr Brennan (west bay ortho warwick) when he refused to issue me the card or sign for the form (isn't that refusing medical tx??)....Dr Zayas no longer signs the MM form and is no longer involved in this program when i asked him why he wasn't "at liberty" to discuss this I went underground(online don't ask) and found out that he is in fact being sued...he refferred me to medicalmarijuanadoctors.com last year and they in turn told me about 11th state I contacted them in the beg of Dec and finally got an appt 2 weeks ago for feb 7th they did stress the $300.00 I need for the 'evaluation fee' now that's a wonderfully clever way to word things but hey whatever works right.....:bravo:

Thank You bronxbull1166,:thanks: I had never heard of 11th state and was at a loss as to where to turn next when I saw your post, I have contacted 11th state today. I am going for my disability now and my Dr refused to sign my paperwork stating "he doesn't know enough about MM yet". though it is clear how it helps me get off all the Opiates I was on, he said he " only saw one report that said it doesn't cause bronchitis and that's not enough" and left it at that. A young scarred Dr, go figure. it took me 9 months to get up the nerve to ask in the first place but it was painless (and fruitless with him) and I am charging ahead now that I broke the ice.:peace:

HEY FAM....11th State UPDATE:
Had to cancel yeterday's appt (02-07-12) booohooo sorry guys was gonna thread what I could from the appt...but til next week 14 feb....Also, I rec'd an unusual e-mail regarding 11th State...A woman told me that she went in Dec 2 (2011) and is still waiting to hear back from DOH for her pic I presume! Its been 2 months...so here comes the Qs 1. Holidays?
2. State back log doubt that its not like these cards are given out like candy...
3. Lack of medical necessity that scares the shit outta me but don't see where there is a Dr for DOH on MM review committee I think they just stamp it say smile and your all set?? :high-five: lol .....post your thoughts please I would like to hear them blow my page up if you have to.... and thanks to you....ELECTRICHOM for you reply...

Hey guys I posted on this Thread Do you want to be a RI MMJ Patient? about 11th State Rhode Island Medical Marijuana Doctors / Patients / Alternative Medicine RI and how the RI DOH approves of their services.
That being said, the RI DOH Medical Marijuana Program is administered by the Dept of Professional Regulations, who regulate 40 Health Care Professions, about 12,000 different types of Licenses for every Dr, Nurse Practioner, Nurse, etc. so it does take at least a month to process New Patients and Caregiver Applications. I would save a copy of the Application to show Police if the catch you with Marijuana (NOT PLANTS) so you can claim "Safe Harbor" from draconian Marijuana laws.

Also please read / remember Forum Guidelines - Please Read Before Posting because we do not allow hook ups, or hook up attempts. :420: is here to Spead Cannabis Awareness, News, and Information, but not to accomodate the the transfer of anything but News, or Information, between Members.

Sorry to hear of your delay. My appt. is on the 21st will let you know how it went. Wife was concerned and she looked at forums for 11 state and all replies she has seen so far are positive. First a elval with nurse if approved it is downstairs for a meeting with a person versed in the "ins and outs" of RI's laws. I hear very knowledgeable and professional experiance all round. My fingers are crossed $300 is a big nut to throw down these days.:peace:

I have received numerous calls from New Patients going through 11th State Consultations who were told the instant their Rec is signed they are LEGAL and able to purchase Medical Marijuana legally from any State Licensed Caregiver.
NOT TRUE
I want to inform all who go through 11th State that until you submit your MMP Application, with payment, to the RI DOH Medical Marijuana Program and receive your MMJ ID Card with your ID# and photo on it anyone who sells you bud is committing a Felony (Manual Delivery of Sch I-II Narcotics). I have a friend who had his RI Rec on him and an OZ of bud, but was still arrested and imprisoned overnight when he eventually got to Court at the Pre Trial he had obtained his letter from RI DOH saying he was approved and had the charges dropped and Marijuana returned but not until he walked into court with his Card. But as the cop told him in RI if you are a resident you MUST have The Card. I cannot submit a Caregiver Application for a new Patient without their MMP ID# so please wait until you are in Possession of your MMJ Card before you get arrested or cause someone else to be arrested.

Going to 11th state tomorrow cant wait for it to be over. It sounds like the womans delay is on state side and I don't think that has anything to do with 11th state, they did mention to me that due to a policy change DOH does now require a copy of a photo ID and if she didn't include one it would be delayed/denied. I heard that the DOH says they will process complete apps with in 15 days of receipt and mail Lic. with in 5 days of approval. I am nervous about the appt. but I have been a chronic pain patient for 10 yrs now so med need should be a given. Will post a update tomorrow.:peace:

Had my visit with 11th state consultations today. Professional, kind and knowledgeable. Standing room only when I arrived but the wait was not as bad as I thought. When over medical history with first person who signed my forms then had a consult with the owner covering any questions I had(few due to my own HW before hand. now $75 buck to the state and I will get a letter from DOH in three weeks or so telling me when to come down for a picture and the lic. GREAT to finally find medical help, too bad it had to cost me $300 but pain relief and legal protection(somewhat) is worth every penny. Would send any friend who needs it to them without hesitation. Now I'm off to learn how to grow my own medicine.:peace:
