Well, it's time for the old nature girl to learn some new tricks. :439:

I've never been accused of not being able to grow some decent shrubbery, though nothing I do is techie at all. Nothing. Herein I am challenged, for indoor cultivation has never been my forte and I've never forced myself to do so for the past 35 years. However, times they are a changin' and I feel the need to keep my own Mothers now, rather than shoving a seed into the ground and praying to the Goddess to spark it with Her likeness as in olden days. *LOL*

So I wanna start them from seed, indoors, under lights, and keep them in veg to perpetuate further grows with their clones.

What works for you guys?

Humbly,
Irish

I usually don't have any problems growing plants from seeds.
I germinated 20 feminized Aurora Indica seeds from Nirvana.
I soaked in water for 24 hours, and then put them in paper towels with a heat pad under them. I was sick for three days, but my wife kept the paper towels damp.
The tap roots were between 1/4" to 1 1/2" long when I planted them in my soiless mix.
It has been 10 days and not one popped through yet.
The soil is damp.
I never had them take this long before.
How much longer should I wait until I give up and start another batch of seeds?

TIA

Hello, I have been lurking on the site for about 2 weeks. I have read quite a bit and feel that I am ready for my grow. I am here to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot out of the gate.

My setup:
4x55 AH Supply Bright Kit
4 55w 6500K bulbs
4 55w 2700K bulbs
6 23w 6500K CFL for seedlings and clones
E.B. Stone Potting soil
Perlite
Alaska 5-1-1
Neptune's 2-3-1
Super-Thrive
Milwaukee Ph meter
Hanna TDS 1 Meter

I currently have one each of the strains listed in the title germinating in shot glasses on top of the fridge. The hash seed has already sunk (4 hours). The others are still floating.

I am going to use the 6500K bulbs for Veg and the 2700K bulbs for Flower. Should I use 3 6500K and 1 2700K during Veg then 3 2700K and 1 6500K during Flower? Or just go with straight 4 and 4 respectively?

I plan to use the Alaska after about 3-4 weeks of veg. Then, use the Neptune for flowering. Are these nutes strong enough to grow with? I see alot of other nutes above 10 or even 30. Would these be too strong?

For soil growing what is the optimal Ph to be at? I have read that different strains like different levels. Is there a basic starting point?

As for the nutes, what PPM should I try to aim for?

Thanks in advance. I will post pics either here or in the journal section.

I am ready to start planning my 1st grow. I will be moving out of my parent's home on thursday with about 600 dollars to spare(after treating myself to a 1/2 ounce of dank.

my new home will be in spokane washington.
is climate a concern?

I have zero experience with gardening plants of any sort.

after I little reasearch I have decided that these two things will be my 1st purchases:

a 400 watt complete grow kit from HTG supply

and a decently sized grow tent from HTG supply

the problem Ive seen is that most guides are incomplete or give different information compared to other guides.
this leaves me feeling extreamly confused.
however, Ive found a guide online that I hope will give me everything I need. here it is:

Growing Stages of Marijuana | Grow Cannabis Indoors, Pot, Weed, Growth Stages.

I plan on using Caramelicious seeds because if the reputed ease of growing for beginners.

all of this will run me around 520 dollars...not bad in my opinion.

potential issues that I need advice on is...

time. how long will is take to get a good pound of weed using the stuff I mentioned before.

cleanliness. a lot of these guides and FAQ's mention that I have to keep the area steril. how hard is this? how do I do it? soap? 409? mr clean magic erasers?

bugs. not too much of a concern because it is cold up in washington which means no bugs. yay

cost. do I really need a grow tent or can I just survive with the complete growkit.

the kit seems to include all the things you describe heres the list

Kit Includes:
400 watt Grow Light with Four Sided Horizontal Reflector
High Output High Pressure Sodium Bulb
High Output Metal Halide Conversion Bulb
Heavy Duty Timer
Pair of High Low Reflector Hangers
100% ORGANIC ADVANCED NUTRIENTS IGUANA JUICE by Dr. Hornby!
Advanced Nutrients OVERDRIVE Ultra Premium Liquid Flower Enhancer
1.5 cubic feet 100% ORGANIC FOXFARM Ocean Forest Potting Soil
9 TWO GALLON Grow Bags
Thermometer / Hygrometer

I know its going to take a lot more research but Its hard for me to memorize the proper steps and visualize doing it in my mind. I want to learn from doing it basically.

from what I have gathered so far is that you have to:

1. germinate the seeds
2. set up all your lights and transfer the seedlings to the bigger pots.
3. set the timer to stay on for a certain ammount of hours.
4. water once every other day.
5. swhich the timer settings when you want to flower the plants
6.harvest the plants by cutting from the stem.

I really wish I could apprentice for someone who is good at this stuff so I can learn that way.

what do you think so far?

thats about it. so is my plan faulty or am I good to go so far?
