Glad you got something out of my journal.
As far my soil I basically cheat and just buy what IMO is probably about the best soil for cannabis that you can just buy and use as soon as you get it.

I use the Buildasoil Oly Mountain modern mix 2 which is a really good soil mix based on the Clackamas Coots soil recipe.

If that's not possible for you for whatever reason then you can certainly build your own Clackamas Coots soil, you can just copy theirs (Buildasoil) or just a basic Clackamas Coots soil from whatever you can find locally.
Here is their recipe off their website.

1 Part Oly Mountain Fish Compost

1 Part Sphagnum Peat Moss

2/3 Part Pumice

1/3 Part Rice Hulls

Now with 5% Pre-Charged Colorado Bio Char!!

Nutrients included in the soil:
Acadian Kelp Meal @ 1/2 Cup Per Cubic Foot

Crustacean Meal @ 1/2 cup Per Cubic Foot

Terviva Karanja Cake @ 1/2 Cup Per Cubic Foot

Brix Blend Basalt @ 2 Cups Per Cubic Foot

Gypsum Dust @ 1 Cup Per Cubic Foot

Oyster Flour @ 1 Cup Per Cubic Foot

That compost is very good and aged for 2 years so it's ready to go right out of the bag.
If you make your own compost it might take you about 6 months or more.

Now if you're planning on doing a Living Organic Soil No-till type grow then go BIG don't try it in small pots.
15 gallon FABRIC pots are absolute minimum, 25 gallon Fabric is better.
You need to create a micro environment, mulch is a must and or a cover crop, I would highly suggest to go ahead and get Rove Beetles and Predator Mites into the soil as soon as the pot is ready with mulch and cover crop so they stay put.
I think a few worms are also beneficial.
The Rove Beetles will take care of the fungus gnats that will always come, they also help break down the soil and they only live 21 days so the 1000s of little dead bodies are good for the soil.

Im in luck. looks like they have an amazon store. But its $45 for a cubic ft!!! seems steep. I would Imagine I would need quite a few bags for a 25 gal pot. Also, I see that you grow in your tub. Is that not an issue when you start adding in beetles and mites?

Im in TX so my space would me limited. Probably grow one plant at a time in a 3X3 tent.

I originally found you by searching Gorillia glue strain. It looks like a good strain to start with. Healthy robust strain that would go easy on a new grower.

Iam not sure why growing in a tub would be an issue.
Its actually a perfect place to grow.
Its 3 bags per 25 gallon pot.
On Buildasoils site you can get 3 bags for $120.
You also need a Mycorrhazae inoculate to build up your microbes.
One plant in 25 gallon fabric pot in a 3x3 with proper light you should be able to get 8 ounces dried and cured.
Probably cost about $300ish for the pot/soil/inoculate/ amendments etc but that should last you for several grows.

I think the easiest cultivar I've grown is White Widow.

I apologize. I just thought that you may get some run away bugs in Your house. Regarding the cost of $300 for a grow....Your making me excited!

There is the occasional Rove Beetle that decides to fly out but considering the fact that they eat every last fungus gnat then 1 or 2 Rove Beetles a few times a year beats the hell out of 1000s of fungus gnats.
The $300 is a rough guess, it actually cost me far less because I bought my soil and amendments like 3 1/2+ years ago on Buildasoils black Friday sale so got everything at 30% off.
I am still using the same soil today.
You will also obviously need a good light.
For a 3x3 you will need at least 325 watts using LM301B diodes or similar.
That will cost about $380 if you build it yourself which is really quite easy to do.
Or you could try to get 2 Budget LED lights.

For one 25 gallon pot.
You need 3 bags of the Oly Mountain modern mix 2.
Some cover crop seeds.
About a grocery bag full of barley straw or similar mulch.
Get a 12# bag of Craftblend to amend the soil with.
Need a mycorrhazae inoculate, I use the Rootwise Complete and their Elixir which is a bit costly but it's very good.
A bag of dried coconut powder to make coconut water.
Bag of Aloe Vera powder.
Bag of Buildabloom which is just micronized minerals and amino acids that make calcium potassium and phosphorus more available.
A bag of Big 6 micronutrients to keep the soil in balance over time with manganese, Boron, Cobalt, Copper, Molybdenum and Zinc.

A couple other things that's nice to have is Ferticell Universal algae and Peach and Comfrey fermented plant juice.

We're not legal here yet in TX so I have a bit of time to start collecting my soil, amendments and my souvenir seeds. Gorilla glue by 420 will probably be first. I'm hoping we'll be ready to go shortly after the elections later this year. I'm literally writing down everything you tell me in case I loose these messages.
